The Glamour Boys left for Angola on Wednesday not knowing what to expect in the war-torn country but the proactive thinking by Amakhosi management, which sent Bobby Motaung to Luanda on Monday, could help save the situation.
Motaung insisted the team should be accommodated at a better place as this would have affected the players psychologically. As a result of that, Amakhosi had to spend extra $20 000.
This will add to Amakhosi’s already inflated travel costs across the continent as the is no prize money in this competition, which would help alleviate some of the financial burdens.
Amakhosi intend reporting the Angolans to the Confederation of African Football (Caf), as the rules clearly oblige the home team to cater for accommodation needs.
Motaung was further upset when told the team could not train more than once a day as Amakhosi normally train twice a day. But, Motaung finally managed to force the Angolans to acceding to Amakhosi’s needs.
But the initial attitude by Inter Luanda officials suggests Amakhosi will have a difficult task as they will have to stay positive and ignore the off-the-field antics.
