Kaizer Chiefs will wrap up the DStv Premiership’s 28th round of matches this weekend in Durban where they are visiting AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium for an early evening fixture.

The team appeared pumped up after they received an exhilarating welcome at the King Shaka International Airport by myriad supporters from various branches in KwaZulu-Natal and other provinces who continue to stand behind the team through thick and thin.

The team will want to get back into the top 8 fold after they were overtaken by Polokwane City, who gained a point after drawing yesterday. Chiefs are now 9th in the standings after drawing against TS Galaxy in Polokwane in a controversial match that saw Chiefs receive two red cards and concede a penalty, courtesy of referee Cedric Muvhali. The team has collected 34 points in 27 matches.

The hosts, AmaZulu, will also want to get into the top 8 by winning. They are currently 12th, with 32 points after 27 outings.

Because of suspensions and injuries picked in the midweek match against Galaxy, Chiefs have had to make several changes in the starting team, as well as on the bench. There will be three changes in defence and one in attack. S’fiso Hlanti returns to replace the injured Reeve Frosler, Thatayone Ditlhowe is in for the suspended Edmilson Dove, and Zitha Kwinika comes in for Dillan Solomons, who also got injured during the previous match. Up front, Christian Saile makes way for Ashley Du Preez.

Amakhosi will go with their standard 4-3-3 set-up.

Bruce Bvuma is in goal again this evening.

After an absence due to ill-health, Hlanti returns to his regular left-back position. Ditlhokwe and Njabulo Ngcobo will be paired as central defenders, with Kwinika coming in at right-back.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa will be in front of defenders as the defensive midfielder. He will have Siyethemba Sithebe and Mduduzi Shabalala just ahead of him.

On the flanks, Chiefs will have Pule Mmodi on the left and Du Preez will make his runs on the right wing.

Ranga Chivaviro, who scored a brace on Tuesday, will lead the attack.

Ditlhokwe will wear the captain’s armband for the first time.

The referee for this evening is Olani Kwinda. His assistants are Lubabalo Pitsha and Tumi Mohlala. The fourth official will be Nonjabulo Ndlela.

This crucial DStv Premiership clash between The Phefeni Glamour Boys and Usuthu will commence at 17:30 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The match is live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
