I am happy - Solinas

“It was a good game,” reflected Giovanni Solinas on Sunday’s MTN8 match against SuperSport United. “It was a game of two halves. They played better than us in the first half, while we were the superior team in the second half. I am happy with the result and the performance of the team.”

Kaizer Chiefs earned a valuable away goal advantage by holding SuperSport United to a two-all draw in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-final.

“We were not brave enough in the first half,” Solinas added. “We opened up and allowed them to play. If you check their goals, they all came as a result of a lapse of concentration.”

The entertaining game got the supporters in the Lucas Moripe Stadium on their feet with Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro scoring for Amakhosi.

“We need to continue playing in the same manner we did in the second half,” continued the Chiefs coach. “That’s when we played positively and that’s what I like.”

Solinas repeated his intentions to scoop the MTN8 trophy. “The only way of winning the cup is to score more goals than the opponent.”

The Italian also commented on the new acquisitions of Lebogang Manyama and Mario Booysens. “Manyama is a special player,” he remarked.  “We have assigned a program to get him fit and ready to play.

“When Lebo gets fit he will give us more attacking options and he will score goals.”

Amakhosi will host Matsatsantsa in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 1 September (kick-off is at 20:15).
