Steven Ncanana believes he is going to grow as a player, having joined the Glamour Boys from first division outfit, Durban Stars, this season.

Ncanana, a defensive midfielder, partnered Gerald Sibeko in the Charity Cup final and impressed Head Coach Vladimir Vermezovic with his performance on the day.

“I have learned a lot from everyone here at Chiefs since day one,” said Ncanana, speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Friday morning.

Ncanana paid tribute to Gerald Sibeko, whom he says has been very helpful. “I played with Gerald against Pirates and he was consistently talking to me about my positioning and keeping shape. He, together with other senior guys in the team, has really helped me to settle quickly in the team,” he said.

“I have learned a lot about positioning and my passing game has improved remarkably since I started working with Coach Vladimir (Vermezovic). I feel at home here but I know that I am expected to work hard every day to earn my place in the team. My fitness level is 100 per cent and now it is just a matter of grabbing an opportunity when the coach calls me to do the duty,” added the soft-spoken KwaZulu/Natal-born player.
