Bernard 'Hond' Parker has thanked his teammates for the 'Man of the Match' award he received following his superb performance when the Amakhosi beat Bidvest Wits 2 - 1 on Saturday, 9 November 2013.
"I am glad to receive the award. It would not have happened without the support from my teammates. Through the support of my teammates I got to play some good touches and created opportunities for the Team.
The Coach knows us well. After Ajax loss, the Coach expressed a concern that we were not stretching ourselves to the required standard. He encouraged us to up the tempo and that is why I went beyond the limit and tried harder to contribute to the success of the Club on the night.
We played some good football albeit in periods, at the end of the day we gained the three points. As professionals we went out to respond to the disappointment of last Tuesday," said 'Hond'.
On his selection to Bafana Bafana to play against Swaziland in Mbabane on Friday and Spain on the 19th November 2013;
"It is another honour. Every National Team call up is special. I feel great and looking forward to face the European and World champions. It is always hard to leave family behind but they do understand that duty is calling and one has to honour the Nation. The feeling is indescribable and I can’t stop pinching myself to find out if this is me," said 'Hond' on the eve of reporting to Bafana Bafana camp.
