“Mr. Cool” who joined the first team in January last year from the Club’s development structures made his debut early this year in a high profile fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns. He has since made the no. 2 spot his despite a fierce challenge from captain, Jimmy Tau and Jeffrey Ntuka.
“There is a lot of work ahead,” said the shy utility player who can also play in the midfield.
“I have received lot of encouragement from the coaches, players and the fans. I did not seat back and watched my progress in the team. All I want to do is to continue playing according to the coach’s instructions and repay him for the faith he has shown in me,” he said.
In recognition of his thriving performance Matle has been nominated both for the Absa Premiership Young Player of the month category and Jet Rookie of the Month in January but he says he will not get carried away.
“I welcome both nominations as it shows that I am doing something right. This however would not have been possible without the help of my teammates. I am going to continue learning and work harder to contribute to the team’s success,”
Meanwhile Matle said the team is looking forward bouncing back when they meet Bloemfontein Celtic over the weekend.
“They look dangerous. We have to be at our best come Saturday. We played well last weekend against Swallows but lost so we have learnt from our mistakes,” he concluded.
