A jubilant Steven Ncanana told kaizerchiefs.com following an emphatic 2-0 victory against United on Sunday that he was ready to ‘die on the field’ when the coach called him to replace Josta Dladla in the 64th minute.

The Glamour Boys who had taken a first half lead through Knowledge Musona in the 41st minute were reduced to 10 men after referee; Jacob Frolick dismissed Kaizer Motaung JR in the 55th minute.

“I was ready to die and fight on the field to protect the lead,” said Ncanana who was making his official debut having joined early this season.

“The coach asked me if I was ok on Saturday. I realized that I might play a part in the game. I was very happy when I was called while warming up to join my teammates on the field. I was ready and had been waiting for the opportunity,” he said.

Ncanana also told kaizerchiefs.com that it had been his dream to play alongside Tinashe Nengomasha, “I did not know that it will happen that we play together in the centre of the park. Tinashe is a nice guy who gives his all for the team. He was very encouraging yesterday,”

“I was happy after the game not only because I had made my official debut but because the team had played well and showed character against quality side. All I wish for now if for us to get more wins under our belt and if another chance comes my way I will grab it,” added Ncanana.
