“ I am comfortable on the wing or playing as a left back - for me the important thing is to be playing regularly,” commented Rene.

Coach Ernst Middendorp was pleased with the way Rene played on Sunday against Bloemfontein Celtic and says that he would like to continue using the speedy youngster as a left back.

Commenting on the new dimension Rene could add to Chiefs game.

Middendorp said “I think with Rene’s speed we could use him effectively as a wing back, can you imagine the kind of havoc that he could wreak running from deep and creating attacks up front”.

Richards will be hoping to start for the first time this season when Chiefs take on Santos in a PSL game on Wednesday.

He last started a league game for Chiefs during the 2003-2004 campaign.
