The hard tackling midfielder Katsande was nominated in both the Footballer of the Season and Absa Premiership Players’ Player of the Season categories. The 2013/14 PSL Awards will take place on Sunday, 18 May 2014.
A delighted Katsande told kaizerchiefs.com that to be nominated alone is an acknowledgment of his performances this season and he will remember that forever:
Congratulations on the PSL Awards nominations. How do you feel?
"I am happy to be nominated. It is a feeling that I cannot put into words. I will always look at this season in my career and thank God for the opportunity he gave me to play soccer at this level," said Katsande.
What was your secret to this season's performances?
"I continued to work hard and to improve from the previous season. The Coaches helped me to polish certain aspects of my game. I improved on minimising the bookings. The Coaches also worked on my confidence. My teammates have supported me and encouraged me to do well," said Katsande.
Outside Kaizer Chiefs who inspired your 2013/14 season?
"My family have always been there even during low moments. I get a lot of support from my sister back home (Zimbabwe). I made sure I didn't get discouraged by negativity around my play. I stayed focused and worked harder to improve,"
How do you feel to be nominated is such big awards?
"As I have said, receiving a nomination in big awards such as this, is the dream of every footballer. I will remember this for my entire life. I feel special as a player especially playing for such a colossal team, Kaizer Chiefs," said Katsande.
Are you looking ahead to next season already?
"Obviously for now I'm looking forward to a good rest. I will be working on my mental readiness towards tackling the next season with the same energy and attitude. I want to be consistent and take my soccer career to the next level," said Katsande with supreme confidence.
Katsande appeared in 41 league and cup games in 2013/14 season. Katsande scored his first goal when he produced a fine header and a winner in the Soweto Derby against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in this season.
