Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana is calling on Amakhosi to atone for their loss against SuperSport United and to “rectify their mistakes” when they face Stellenbosch in the Cape this weekend.

“We will rebuild against Stellenbosch. We hope to finish the season on a high note, that’s the only thing we can do now. The Stellenbosch game will be crucial for us. It’s an away game, but we are looking to return home with three points,” Ngezana told www.kaizerchiefs.com.

Chiefs were dominant against SuperSport, a game Ngezana has “mixed emotions” about as for all their dominance they ended the game empty-handed.

“We shouldn’t have lost that game. But it’s a learning curve for us. We created a lot of chances, but it was one of those days when luck was not on our side. They created only two chances and managed to convert one of the chances they had. There was a lack of concentration on our part and we could have defended better as defenders. They caught us out of position and scored. Now (against Stellenbosch) we need to rectify our mistakes. If we manage to keep a clean sheet at the back, we would be doing our job as defenders,” says Ngezana.

The rugged Chiefs defender is happy to be back on the team after having his challenges with injury this season.

“It’s not about individuals, but I am happy I am back to add something to the team. I’m not just here to add numbers, I’m pushing myself hard to be consistent and to help the team to win games. It is up to me to push myself and things will fall into place,” says Ngezana.

The game takes place on Saturday at Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch. Kick-off is at 17:00.
