The dream of the 13-year-old Innocent came true on Saturday, 27 May, at FNB Stadium when meeting his hero Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala and other Glamour Boys. Innocent, who comes from Potchefstroom, is suffering from Ewing’s Sarcoma and his dream was to meet the Kaizer Chiefs star.
Amakhosi hosted Bidvest Wits for their last game of the 2016/2017 season and Innocent and his family were there to witness it.
On the day, they walked onto the pitch through the tunnel, watched the players warm-up and the first half of the game.
Innocent and his family went to one of the suites during half-time to meet Shabba. Together, they sat down and had lunch. The excited youngster got to talk to Tshabalala and share stories. Shabba and Innocent watched the second half sitting side-to-side and celebrated loudly when Chiefs scored the injury time winner.
Innocent and his family went down onto the pitch once again after the referee’s final whistle to meet the rest of the Chiefs squad and to congratulate the Glamour Boys on their win.
The youngster’s dream was facilitated by the Reach for a Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization that fulfils the dreams of children of all income groups and of any race, colour or creed between the ages of 3 and 18 years, who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
Kaizer Chiefs also donated a hamper to Innocent that included a jersey, shorts, socks and stickers.
