Coach Ernest Middendorp declared on Saturday that he shared his intentions and plans for the last game of the year with the team. “Our intentions and mandate are very clear,” he says. “We had fourteen days to prepare for Sunday’s game against Maritzburg. We have worked on various options to compete for the three points.”
Chiefs landed in Durban on Saturday to face Maritzburg United on Sunday at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg.
“I have enough information but will not talk much about United,” added Middendorp. “Safe to say, they will be confident given their performance against us in the cup competition. But this is a different ball game. We are looking forward to the match.
“In terms of his personnel, we traveled with Khama Billiat and we will make a decision about his participation. Otherwise we have it all areas covered. Most importantly we will respect the opponent which is part of the game.
We will see how the goes. But importantly there’s a good vibe in the team and everyone knows their responsibility. It’s not going to be easy, but we have planned very well to compete on the day.”
Kick-off is 15:30 and tickets are sold out.
