Kaizer Chiefs defender Dominic Isaacs is managing the Amakhosi’s pre-season training programme without any difficulty despite having under gone knee surgery in early towards the end of last season.

Isaacs has made a quicker than expected recovery and twelve days into Chiefs pre-season training camp he is fighting fit as he explained.

“With the help of the support staff at the club my rehabilitation went well. Right now am not feeling any discomfort and have been able to keep with the pace of the training sessions.”

The motivation behind Isaacs working on his own and ensuring that he would 100% fit and ready by the time the season kicked off, was the fact that he did not wish to miss out on any action from the word go in the new season.

“From the bottom of my heart I will say that I do not enjoy being out of action, and I did not want to do not want to be away from the pitch at any time particularly at the start of the new season.

"As you know the career of a footballer is very short so I did my best to ensure that I was in the position to start training with the guys when we got back last week.”

Isaacs is confident that the pre-season programme will work out for him and furthermore believes that the coming season his fourth as a Chiefs player will be a defining one for him in terms of his career at the Amakhosi.

“Of course I do feel that the 2011 – 2012 season will be a crucial one for me, I came here in 2008 and although I have won two cups there is a lot I feel that I can still bring to the team and win for the team.

"I know the importance that the coming season holds for me as an individual and for the team, our collective aim is to be as competitive as possible in the campaign ahead.”

Isaacs will also face further competition this coming season in defence with Chiefs bolstering their squad with a number of new defensive additions.

The tough tackling defender does feel that this is a good thing for the team, “Having new faces in the team is always good for us and for our depth as a squad of players, the guys that we have brought in particularly to cover in the backline will bring an added competitive edge to the squad which in the long run will only be beneficial to the team.”
