The Amakhosi are heading to a weekend filled with activities. This being a FIFA week, Kaizer Chiefs will be engaged in what the Club Marketing Director describes as a “Triple Header”. The triple header will start with the Chiefs Legends taking on the Liverpool Legends, in a showpiece game as part of The Liverpool Legends Tour to SA. The game will be played on Saturday, 16 November 2013 at the Moses MabhidaStadium. Kickoff is at 14:00.

kaizerchiefs.com caught up with Jessica Motaung who couldn’t hide her feelings about the weekend ahead:

“It is exciting times for us. Obviously it is more exciting to see our legends coming together to play against the Reds Legends. We are asking the supporters to go buy their tickets and come to the stadium in numbers to support the game. It has been a wonderful experience to watch the legends coming out and enjoying themselves. They also played a friendly and won 3-2 against the Nike Team on Tuesday night. It is a historic moment in football for the supporters to watch the Chiefs Legends flying the flag against the Liverpool Legends from England.”

The next stop will be Botswana, where the Amakhosi First Team will participate in the Botswana Challenge. The game is dubbed the ‘Clash of the Champions’, as the two opposing teams on the night (Kickoff is 19:00 at the National Stadium in Gaborone) are reigning Champions in their domestic leagues. Mochudi Centre Chiefs are the reigning Champs in Botswana Premier League and Kaizer Chiefs are basking under the same glory in the PSL.

“It is all systems go in Botswana. We are growing the Chiefs brand into the Continent and Botswana is our first stop. The game itself will be significant in terms of determining who the real Chiefs is in the sub-Saharan Africa. Part of the visit to Botswana will include, amongst others, engaging with our supporters in Botswana where we command a large following. We be activating and promoting Chiefs properties and the supporters will be able to buy and renew their Club Memberships and buy authentic Chiefs merchandise. The activations will be held at the Airport Junction Mall on Friday, 15 November from 12:00 – 16:00).”

The last leg of the ‘triple header’ will see Kaizer Chiefs involved in a big way at the 2013 SA Sports Awards. Kaizer Chiefs is nominated in the Sports Team of the Year category. Chiefs Captain Itumeleng Khune is nominated in the category of the Sportsman of the Year and Sports Star of the Year (dial *120*8883# and follow the prompt to vote).

“To be nominated for the Team of the Year alongside the SA Rugby and The Proteas is humbling for the Club. The Captain of the Team, Khune is also standing a chance to become the Sportsman and Sports Star of the Year. It shows that the Championship and Cup double of last season did not go unnoticed. It is really a time to showcase what the Kaizer Chiefs brand is all about.”
