The six players and their interpreter who hail from the Brazilian City of Sao Paolo were in the country to demonstrate Joga Bonito (play beautifully), the game sees two teams of three each take on each other in a mini pitch played with a heavier ball.
The heavier ball assists in aiding younger players to learn better ball control, the idea of the game is for continuous action therefore there are no throw-ins, out balls or off sides. Joga Bonito also aims to promote fair play by encouraging players to build team spirit, joy and just have fun and trying to eliminating unsavory acts such as diving and foul play.
Two hundred primary schools and one of the Kaizer Chiefs development teams will compete in a Joga Bonito 3 on 3 tournament, which will be sponsored by Nike later in the year.
The group will be touring around the world on behalf of Nike and will leave South Africa on Thursday; Joga Bonito was officially launched in South Africa this past weekend on Robben Island off Cape Town.
