Tefu Mashamaite (26) has told kaizerchiefs.com that joining Kaizer Chiefs is the realisation of a childhood dream.

The highly-rated defender and captain at Bidvest Wits has signed a three-year deal with the Glamour Boys -- a contract effective from June 1, 2011.

Discussing his move from being a Student to a Glamour Boy Mashamaite said: “I know Kaizer Chiefs is a team with history. I have heard so much and know so much about the Club. It is a special Club and this was going through my mind as I drove towards Naturena this morning.

“The first time I attended a live game was back in 1992 -- the Bob Save Final where Chiefs beat Jomo Cosmos 2-1. It was a proud moment for me as a youngster to watch the galaxy of stars at Chiefs then.”

Mashamaite sees his move to Kaizer Chiefs as a step in the right direction. “Life is about progress. Chiefs are a big team that always challenges for trophies season in and season out. I also want to be challenged as a player and after sitting down with my manager we thought the Club would provide me with an opportunity to grow.

“I also spoke to the likes of my homeboy Punch (Masenamela), Itumeleng Khune, Shabba (Siphiwe Tshabalala) and Yeye (Reneilwe Letsholonyane). As for Jimmy (Tau), I always talk to him over the phone.

They also made it easy for me to make the move to Chiefs.

It is not going to be easy but I am going to work hard because I am here to win things,” added the Limpopo-born defender who holds a degree in International Relations and Political Science.
