Kaizer Chiefs will take on German outfit TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in an international friendly on Friday, 16 January 2015. The game will be played at Soweto’s FNB Stadium (kick-off at 19:30).

Hoffenheim are at present in seventh position in the German Bundesliga, two points off third place.

The Germans are in South Africa for a mid-season camp. Former Kaizer Chiefs star Knowledge Musona played for Hoffenheim until recently.

Soccer fans will relish the opportunity to see Hoffenheim's Brazilian sensation Roberto Firmino. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder recently made his debut for the Brazilian national team. In his second international cap for the Seleçao, Firmano scored with a dream goal from long distance to help Brazil beat Austria 2-1.

Other notable players are goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, midfielder Tobias Strobi and striker Kevin Volland.

The international match will also be the return of Itumeleng Khune in goal since returning from injury, while new signing David Zulu will probably make his Kaizer Chiefs debut.

The Amakhosi are on top of the Absa Premiership log and the Hoffenheim clash will provide an interesting test.

Hoffenheim’s coach Markus Gisdol prefers to play attacking soccer full of running. Amakhosi coach Stuart Baxter has the same football philosophy. As a result, this will be an entertaining clash with both teams looking to attack.

“I am looking forward to the game,” enthuses Baxter. “Hoffenheim is doing excellently in the German Bundesliga, one of the world’s best leagues. They are also very well organised from a management perspective, doing better in the Bundesliga year after year. They are a classy club with a vision, like Kaizer Chiefs.”

Match tickets are available from Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide. The cost per ticket is R40 for adults and R10 for children.

Supporters are encouraged to make their way to the venue as early as possible to create an amazing atmosphere in anticipation of the match.
