Kaizer Chiefs are known for their passion when it comes to the community and this year is no exception when it comes to backing the right cause.

Human Trafficking

“Trafficking in persons” shall mean the recruitment, transportation, harbouring or receipt of persons by means of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation.

Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others, or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs…” NONDE Media-Diasporafric

The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of human trafficking in South Africa, establish annual Human Trafficking Week, to familiarise the public with support structures in place to help those affected, to encourage survivors to talk about their experiences as well as to stimulate communication to prevent more women and children from becoming victims.

According to stats, 700-900 000 people are trafficked across border every year, 137 women and children are trafficked out of Africa every day, 50 000 women and children are trafficked out of Africa annually. South Africa has been identified as a human trafficking hub in the SADIC region and in Africa as a whole.

The economy and the bustling business sector as well as industrialization, tourism and a growing demand for commercial sex, have been marked as key influential factors with regard to human trafficking.

The Amakhosi are passionate about this cause, as Management have appointed Jessica Motaung, Marketing Manager, as the Kaizer Chiefs spokesperson who will reach out to the Amakhosi faithful on this issue. This topic is a hot one with the ladies of Kaizer Chiefs as all have rallied behind the cause as it affects more women and children annually.

The entire Amakhosi family would like to take their part as ambassadors for the cause and take a stand against this horrific form of slave trade. In keeping with the overall message of the campaign:” Blow the whistle!” The Amakhosi would like to encourage people to speak up and to be aware!

“For me as a woman, it’s a cause close to my heart and just having given birth to my boys, its resonates with me that human life must be valued. Kaizer Chiefs is against any form of abuse to women and children and is categorically against any form of human trafficking!” Jessica Motaung.
