The Glamour Boys are hard pressed to bounce back following their defeat in the MTN 8 final at Soccer City Complex on Saturday and the disappointing result in Cape Town last night against Ajax Cape Town.
The Technical Team has already made it clear that the game against Ajax Cape Town was a crucial one.
It will be on Saturday though that the country will once again be divided into two. The last time the two Giants met in the league in February early this year, Orlando Pirates needed an injury time equalizer to cancel first half strike from Kaizer Motaung JNR.
The Glamour Boys had a superb start this season, but have moved to third position on the log after the defeat in Cape Town.
Expressing confidence over the team, Marketing Director Jessica Motaung assured the supporters that, “The players have put the disappointment of losing against Orlando Pirates behind and they 100% focused on the upcoming home game against Pirates”.
“The theme for the upcoming Derby is ‘KHOSI RISING’. It then goes without saying that the game against Orlando Pirates on Saturday gives us an opportunity to ‘Rise’ as the team. We are challenged to remain consistent in the race to win the Absa Premiership this season, a title that has eluded us for the past couple of seasons. The stakes are high and we want to keep on ‘Rising’.
Jessica Motaung also revealed that there are Roadshows planned this week including visits to schools around Soweto.
“Plans are afoot to host roadshows on Thursday and Friday later in the week. We will be at Sammy Marks Square in Pretoria and Tembisa Plaza on the Thursday, 15 September 2011 and on Friday we will be at Joubert Park and Tsakane Mall. We had a successful activation on Wednesday in one of the schools in Soweto, Phefeni High. The roadshows and school activation is part of our plan to reach out to our supporters. We will soon be expanding this to universities.”
Tickets for the 80th derby between the two sides since 1970 are already on sale at Shoprite/Checkers and Computicket.
“We would like to urge our fans to purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment. Through our Supporters Relations Manager, Cecil Motaung we have been in touch with the branches all over the country and we are delighted that we will once again outnumber opposition fans this coming Saturday. This is a clear demonstration from the supporters that they are behind the team through and through,” added Motaung.
