Kaizer Chiefs Team, Management and Staff took some time off their busy schedule to mark the birthday of the Club 44 years ago. The Amakhosi family shared the moment with lots of humour while at the same time, one could see in their faces, that there was a great sense of responsibility to catapult the Club to the next level of many more years to come.

The Executive Chairman Kaizer Motaung addressed the gathering; “This is an important day for the Club. It has been many years of building this brand to be where it is today. I thank God for giving me strength and the opportunity to see this brand growing to where it is. You must feel proud to be part of this journey. You must feel proud that your names will be part of this history. As you go on with your duties, know that you are representing the brand that is associated with the millions of people. I wish to congratulate you for being part of this historic moment. I thank you,” said Motaung.

The Chairman introduced the legends, Ryder Mofokeng, currently part of the Club Development structures and Doctor Khumalo, the current Assistant Coach to share their message with their colleagues.

Mofokeng said, “This is a humbling experience. I have seen the Club growing from strength to strength. The buildings and all the infrastructure you see here is as a result of hard work from the Chairman and other forefathers of the Club. I wish us all a happy birthday.”

Khumalo said, “I was born here. I have not worn any other colour jersey in my heart except for the gold and black. I was privileged to grow as part of this Team. I hope some of you will also stay longer and make your mark at the Club. I wish all the best to the Club going forward.”

Ivan Bukenya and Coach Stuart Baxter expressed their feelings in response to the overwhelming occasion.

Baxter said, “When I first met Bobby (Motaung) in London he told me about the dream that the Chairman has for the Club. And I am here now and I see it in reality. As a Team we wish to say thank you and a happy birthday to the Club. From us, who do the work on the ground, we wish to thank the people who do the work from the offices and appreciate the support they give to the Team. We will do our best on the pitch to uphold the status of the Club. Thank you.”

Bukenya said; “As the players we would like to thank the people who organised the gathering. We will do our bit to make sure that we do well in all competitions and represent the Club very well going forward.”

The cherry on top became the moment when Coach Baxter served the birthday cake to the gathering. The spirit of Amakhosi was demonstrated with a gesture to the Chiefs supporters who visited the Village to facilitate their Supporters Branch matters. The players shared the birthday cake with the supporters. Kutlwanong Supporters Branch members were treated to the delicacy much to their surprise.

Kutlwanong Branch PRO, Victor Fixane could not hide his emotions, “I am very happy. I do not know how to express my feelings. I am grateful, this has not happened to me before since I started supporting the Team. We will cherish this moment and spread the message of Love and Peace wherever we go.”

It was a day of the lucky numbers as the Chairman Kaizer Motaung was born in 1944 and Football Manager will be turning 44 this year. The lucky star also went to the newly signed George Maluleka, who turned 25 today, just a few days after becoming a Glamour Boy. The Chairman extended his happy birthday message to Maluleka and also used the opportunity to welcome him to Amakhosi as his new home, the home of Champions.
