This Celebrity match is in aid of S.A.A.C.F, which is a Non-Profit organization that stand firmly for the protection of innocent, unsuspecting children who are abused, abandoned and who are disregarded from society because of their HIV/AIDS status.
This game also reinforces Kaizer Chiefs stand against the abuse of Women and Children.
"In the last months there has been an alarming increase of child abuse cases and an increasing amount of lives lost. Five thousand people die every week in South Africa because of AIDS and because of sexual violence.
"As Kaizer Chiefs we have the responsibility to assist in creating the awareness of this scourge so that, starting from our supporters, we can contribute in making a difference & in spreading the message that “Real men, don’t abuse!" says Managing Director and Chairman of Kaizer Chiefs, Kaizer Motaung.
"SAACF is a very small organization, but we have made a difference to a lot of children in these past 2 years and we hope to keep on doing so in the future. It made sense to us to seek the assistance from a club like Kaizer Chiefs, who is already very active in terms of creating awareness & sustaining organizations in aid of sexual violence & HIV/AIDS. They accepted our proposal to host a Celebrity Game with great enthusiasm. This is our way to increase awareness of the problem of Abuse in our country, let people know that there is an organization like ours that can assist and at the same time thank all of those partners who have been supporting us these past years, without them we wouldn’t have been able to assist all these children," says Terry Dennison, Director of the SAACF and a survivor of abuse.
Wednesday will not only mark the beginning of the Amakhosi season against one of the most upcoming and talented teams in the PSL, Super Sport United, but will be also be a welcome back to the “Peace & Loving” supporters. “This season will be providing our supporters with a lot of entertainment before kick-off of the main match in order to incentivise early entry to the stadium for security purposes. And Wednesday’s celebrity curtain raisers is one of the ways we have to not only to entertain our supporters but also to reinforce our commitment to social programmes” says Putco Mafani, Chiefs PRO & Communications manager.
