The Soweto giants have stepped into a bold new era of lifestyle expression with the official launch of the Kaizer Chiefs Sealand collection. It’s a collaboration that fuses the heartbeat of football with the future of sustainable design. The debut range, featuring a crossbody, backpack and toiletry bag, is now available at Sandton City, V&A Waterfront Sealand stores and online.
This is not just a drop. It’s a cultural link-up. A collision of two proudly South African brands, united by purpose, creativity and a shared responsibility to both people and planet. Born from the energy of the terraces of the stands and brought to life on the workshop floor, the collection turns what was once waste into premium, functional gear built for real life, from matchday to everyday. It’s street-ready, travel-ready and future-ready. Every stitch tells a story of a movement of culture in motion, of progress in action, of waste reimagined into something lasting and meaningful.
The design language of the collection is unmistakably modern and built for real movement. Each piece is crafted from soft, durable upcycled materials that feel premium to the touch yet are engineered to withstand daily wear. Clean lines, spacious interiors and smart pocketing make the crossbody, backpack and toiletry bag as practical as they are stylish. True to this commitment, elements of Kaizer Chiefs’ own history live inside the collection. In the production of this range, Sealand has upcycled 88 metres of old Kaizer Chiefs banners, diverting them from landfill and repurposing them as durable inner linings within the bags. The branding now continues its journey in a new form of carrying everyday essentials while extending its legacy in service of the planet.
Rooted in streetwear culture but refined through thoughtful craftsmanship, the silhouettes are versatile enough for the city commute, travel days and matchday fits alike. Subtle Kaizer Chiefs branding is integrated with intention, allowing the gold and black to speak with quiet confidence.
It is this shared vision that sits at the heart of the collaboration, as Sealand Brand Director Howie Khan explains:
“The partnership between Sealand and Kaizer Chiefs is more than a brand alignment. It’s a meeting of two institutions that carry the spirit, resilience and creativity of this country in everything they do. What makes this collaboration so ground-breaking is the fusion of heritage and innovation. It’s a celebration of what South Africa has achieved and what it is capable of becoming. Purpose driven design and world class sport are not mutually exclusive as they can elevate one another, inspire fans, and champion a new standard for local partnerships.”
For Kaizer Chiefs, the partnership reflects the Club’s evolving vision of impact beyond the pitch. Marketing Director Jessica Motaung said:
“What makes this partnership with Sealand so powerful is that it allows our very own history to be reimagined through sustainable design, with elements of our Chiefs branding repurposed into the fabric of these products. This means our supporters can carry the Amakhosi badge with pride, knowing they are also supporting local craftsmanship and the protection of our planet.”
Founded in Cape Town in 2015, Sealand is renowned for transforming waste into durable, aspirational lifestyle gear. The brand has sold over 100,000 upcycled bags, diverting more than 80,000 kilograms of textile waste from landfills, while producing 66 to 91 percent less carbon emissions than conventional bags. All products are locally made through ethical, sustainable supply chains that create dignified employment and long-term impact.
