The Kaizer Chiefs Corporate Social Investment programme has today; reached out to the 2 year old and fast-growing Ngwale Home-Based Care of Zone 9 Meadowlands.

The Public Relations Manager of Kaizer Chiefs Siyabulela “24/7” Makunga had a pleasant shock of his life, when he joined a group of approximately 70 old grannies and daddies at the Fiat Sporting Centre, who were hard at work doing their routine physical exercises under the stewardship of their mentor Mr. Jacob Rapetswa, whose expertise also contributed to the nurturing of the talented Gerald Sibeko, Excellent Walaza, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and many more.

Mrs Rebecca Diutlwileng, who is 61, is a founding Managing Director of Ngwale Home-Based Care. The Polokwane born “gogo” retired in 2006 to establish an Orphanage home, which she started while teaching at Dr. Mary Primary School, a project she has championed with passion, love and unprecedented diligence. “It haunts me to see impoverished children, old ladies and daddies.” she says.

“I have an undying love for kids, particularly the needy. I will spend my last cent to source donations and contributions from charity organizations and other strategic partners, to get them food and clothing” she added

“ I approached Kaizer Chiefs, which to us became an obvious choice, given its rich history and association with Soweto and their unique culture of giving, to ask for their assistance, financial and in kind, and the Almighty has listened to our prayers, because Kaizer Chiefs has responded to our dreams. We are now going to put on our gold and black T-Shirts sponsored by Kaizer Chiefs and use in our training sessions the Kaizer Chiefs balls. It is something we have been dying to see, the uniformity in our group of grannies. Viva Amakhosi Viva!” she concluded supported by the jubilant beneficiaries of the project who screamed from the background, “Amakhosi 4 Life!”

“I was appalled to see a group of old ladies so committed to healthy way of life, something you seldom find in our youth who opt for undesired routes like shebeens, drug abuse and crime. I am immensely pleased to have met a 92 year old Mrs Bella Thekiso, so committed in a hard-hitting training exercise simply to keep strong and healthy. Our association with Ngwale is among other things, motivated by the fortitude they have shown since the inception of the project and the spirit of Vuk’uzenzele. We pride ourselves to help those who take their own initiatives in helping others” says Makunga.

Mama Rebecca has today signed-up for what she referred to as “a dream come true” her first ever Kaizer Chiefs Supporters Club card which is packed with value adding benefits like the funeral cover, discounts on Kaizer Chiefs merchandise, automotive parts, educational and health care services. She has undertaken to propose a branch whose membership will largely be drawn from the beneficiaries of Ngwale Home-Based Care.

“We wish Ngwale Home-Based Care everything of the best and more importantly the old grannies and daddies who chose to associate with Amakhosi and staying strong 4 Life, instead of indulging in the ingredients largely known as harmful and destructive of the young and old” Makunga concluded.
