Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung, was on hand to welcome the Norwegian delegation, “the Norwegians’ visit to the Kaizer Chiefs village, was aimed at solidifying relations between South Africa and Norway and of course with Kaizer Chiefs.
It is underpinned by the world’s growing focus on South Africa ahead of the Confederations Cup and 2010 Fifa World Cup. The visit was a great highlight of Kaizer Chiefs as we continue to grow the brand globally", she said.
The Norwegians arrived in South Africa on Wednesday morning and prioritized a visit to the Kaizer Chiefs’ headquarters on their first day in South Africa. Their visit precedes the prestigious Mandela Challenge clash between Bafana Bafana and Norway which will take place on Saturday, 28 March at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. Kick Off for this game is 15h00.
The Norwegian delegates were treated to a tour of the Kaizer Chiefs Village, and met with Chiefs staff, and management. There was a presentation on the Club followed by a cocktail event.
The highlight of visit was when Kaizer Chiefs Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Kaizer Motaung also took few minutes of his hectic schedule to meet the Norwegian delegation.
Thrilled to meet the Chairman one of the delegates asked “Is this the man who did so much for South African football?”
“We are proud to share the Kaizer Chiefs success story with one of the world’s fast growing Football Federations. Sharing experiences and forging value adding partnerships, is vital to us” said Motaung.
She boasted of Kaizer Chiefs’ recent deal with the Norwegian based digital communications company Boost Communications for the Chiefs Mobizone, a newly founded Amakhosi mobile website.
Motaung also announced to the visitors that the Chiefs UI7 had just beaten Corinthians in the youth world football tournament organized by SAFA Soweto and the Gauteng Government, to showcase the talent of future superstars. Chiefs U17 are now in the semifinals of the tournament against Boca Juniors at 13H00 on Friday 27 March 2009.
The Norwegians were overwhelmed by the warm reception they received from the Kaizer Chiefs Family “Everyone here has the warmth, professionalism and passion for the Kaizer Chiefs brand, it is unbelievably fantastic, I now know why you have such a command to a huge football support base here in South Africa, of which we are now a part of” said Mr. Sondre Kaatjord, President of the Norwegian Football Association highlighting the fact that all delegates took Kaizer Chiefs by surprise when they voluntarily signed-up for membership to the Amakhosi Supporters Club card.
Echoing the words of NFA President, Niels Roeine, and Chief Executive Officer of the Norwegian Professional Football League told kaizerchiefs.com that “the level of leadership and enthusiasm here is surely your secret to success; I listened carefully when Jessica was relaying the success story of Kaizer Chiefs and its Chairman. ”
