The Kaizer Chiefs Village was the place to be this afternoon, this time the players swapped their training attire for their casual and laid back fashion dress code. Even the Executive Chairman Kaizer Motaung flanked by other Club officials traded the usual suit and tie for smart casual wear. The Village venue dressed in gold and black was a perfect place to host the Kaizer Chiefs Annual Christmas Party for the Staff and Players.
Hosted and organised by the Marketing Department, the party lived to expectations with delicacies served and dance music pumping in the background. The Glory message “It takes more than 90min”, from ‘Chincha Guluva’ himself set the tone for the light hearted occasion to take off. The ever lively Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung mastered the proceedings by mingling the reflection on the first half of the season and the festive presentations. “We have done well as a team, all the departments did well and I would like to thank our marketing team for the sterling job. We achieved great things so far and I would like to thank you for your support”; said Jessica.
‘Chincha Guluva’ presented a moving speech to mark the celebrations; “Thank God for giving us strength especially to me for having witnessed the start of the Club from its inception to date. I would like to acknowledge the contribution that was made by the other founding members as they laid a good foundation for the Club to sustain to this day. As we go into our different directions to enjoy with our families remember you are ambassadors and looked up to as icons and people admire you. I can confidently pronounce that after the season where we made changes in the playing and coaching departments the improvement is there for everybody to see. This party represents the time to reflect and time to look back from where we come from. This year was a mix bag of loss to some as well as achievements and we must thank God that we are here today.” At the end of his speech ‘Chincha Guluva’ said: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The Football Manager Bobby Motaung used the opportunity to thank everyone involved in the team for the oneness and team spirit that has been in operation this year. The Team Captain Itumeleng Khune expressed gratitude and appreciation for the support that the players receive from all at the Club and reminded his ‘troops’ that they carry the responsibility to carry the Club on their shoulders and lift it up in the field of play. Itu reminded everyone present to Arrive Alive!
There was a moment of silence for those who lost their loved ones this year and one such loss affected the Executive Chairman who lost his son Thabo Motaung.
The Marketing Department pulled out all the stops to ensure that everybody received a Christmas present. The players presented gifts to the staff members, the gesture that can only be defined by the Love and Peace spirit of Amakhosi!
Reclaiming the Glory!
