The much anticipated launch event of the Kaizer Chiefs revamped store take place on Thursday, 6 December, two days before the Soweto Derby between the arch rivals Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.



The launch event was attended by guests from different quarters of the fashion industry and media as well as Kaizer Chiefs friends and family.



kaizerchiefs.com caught up with the Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung ahead of the opening day; “We are excited about the opening. The revamping process has been very tough but with good team work from the Retail Store staff, we were able to run the race until the end. The Store Manager, Emmanuel Khumalo has been excellent in the process with many other people involved - I can’t mention all of them by name, but our partners Nike have been fantastic during the process.



“The Store is integral to Kaizer Chiefs business and our partnership with Nike is the cornerstone to drive this exciting component of Amakhosi. There are some exciting value adds and the shoppers will be happy to buy and customise their jerseys with their names and preferred slogans in the shop. All in all, the Store offers more than shopping, the look in and outside creates a memorable shopping experience. We have added the Amakhosi history through wall pictures and the message is loud and clear in the store, we are Reclaiming the Glory!



Jessica hinted further; “We will be adding a lifestyle range very soon.”



Anwar Jappie, Marketing Director, Nike was ecstatic about the opening; “Nike provides innovation and inspiration to every athlete in the world. The Kaizer Chiefs Retail Store is special to the fans. It is a premium store. We listen to the athletes and we also listen to the fans. This is the first step; we plan to take this store to other parts of the country. This is first for South Africa. The store provides exclusive products and experience.”



kaizerchiefs.com caught up with some of the shoppers who had a privilege to be the first to enter the revamped store, Jarrod of Graffiti didn’t contain his excitement; “This undoubtedly an upmarket store.” Pontsho of Edcon was full of praise; “I nearly collapsed when I entered the store, it is beautiful and classical.”



The store will be launched to the public on December 7th and 8th, with shoppers receiving free Classic Membership or renewal thereof if they purchase merchandise worth R1000 or more during the two days. The Kaizer Chiefs 7’s Rugby jersey and Kaizer Chiefs away jersey and more merchandise will be packed on the shelves.
