“We want to win all the games we play,” says Kaizer Chiefs Under-19s coach, Sundra Govinder ahead of Saturday’s fixture against Randburg AFC. “On the other hand, we play with a lot of younger guys to build them for next season’s reserve side.”
Chiefs will host Randburg FC at the Nike Centre, Soweto, on Saturday, 16 February. Kick-off will be at 15:00.
Amakhosi’s Under-19s beat Meadowlands FC 2-0 last weekend in an SAB Johannesburg Regional League match. The goals were scored by Sizwe Twala and Lebohang Lesako.
The Under-19s are presently in fourth position on the log with 32 points from 15 games. They are six points behind table leaders, Stars of Africa.
“Our main objective is to fill all the development gaps,” concludes coach Govinder. “As we are in between the Under-17s and the reserve side. That’s also why we do a lot of individual coaching and other functional work with the players at training.”
