Time is ticking closer to the big showdown between the reigning Absa Premiership champions Amakhosi and the current log leaders, the Clever Boys. In years gone by, clashes between these two traditional foes raised eyebrows and drew attention from both set of supporters, including the neutrals.
This time around though, there is some extra spice in the fixture. It will be the first time Kaizer Chiefs uses a Cape Town venue as the alternative home ground. Amakhosi host Bidvest Wits on Saturday, 19 December, at the Cape Town Stadium (kick-off is at 18:00).
Dubbed the Cape of Love & Peace, Chiefs will play a total of three Absa Premiership home fixtures at the Cape Town Stadium. Following the Wits encounter, Amakhosi will welcome Platinum Stars (24 January, 15:30 kick-off) and SuperSport United (20 February, 20:15 kick-off).
Speaking ahead of the Cape of Love & Peace visit, Marketing Director Jessica Motaung enthuses, “We are geared up for Cape Town. This is history in the making and that’s why we are pulling all stops to make it memorable for our supporters.”
Several activities will be organised in the build-up to the Wits encounter. “We have planned a number of events,” confirms the ever lively Motaung. “These include Roadshows where management and selected players will get up close and personal with our supporters. We have added soccer clinics, which are part of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme. The clinics will be conducted by some of our top players.”
Christmas will come early for the people of Gugulethu, Khayelitsha and surrounding areas as the Kaizer Chiefs Vodacom Roadshows will be hosted on their doorstep.
Supporters are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to buy authentic merchandise at the Roadshows courtesy of KC Retail, with plenty of tantalising specials on offer.
KC starter packs containing exclusive content unavailable elsewhere, thanks to KC Mobile, which brings the supporters closer to their favourite team with exclusive information, is also available at the Roadshows.
Plus, there will be lots of enticing prizes and giveaways and even a chance for people to secure their futures with KC Insurance.

Accredited Media have not been forgotten; Chiefs will host a Cape of Love & Peace press conference on Thursday, 17 December, at 14:00 at Cape Town Stadium.
“We have other closed doors activities planned such as Reach for a Dream,” concludes Motaung. “Through this we make wishes of terminally ill children a reality, which is at the heart of our founding principles of Love & Peace.”
Tickets for the three Cape of Love & Peace matches are already available at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide at a cost of R60.
