Kaizer Chiefs and Vodacom shook Alexandra township when they hosted the last Shake Every Day summer campaign roadshow on Saturday, 27 January 2018 at the Alex Mall. The roadshow was a precursor of the massive game that would take place in the evening between Amakhosi and Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium.
Amakhosi supporters descended on the Shakeville set-up at the Alex Mall in numbers from as early as 10:00 and left at 14:00 – just in time to get ready for the clash of two giants of South African football.
They were joined by a number of celebrities and actors, including Zakhele Mabasa (Bra Shakes), Mdu Gumede, Sicelo Dlamini of Isibaya, as well as other actors from shows such as Generations the Legacy.
Kaizer Chiefs players Sibusiso Khumalo, Bernard Parker and the man who grew up in Alexandra Joseph Molangoane attended the roadshow. They took part in the activations and met hundreds of shoppers and supporters who were at the mall.
The players and supporters also visited the KC Store, which is located at the Alex mall, offering exclusive Kaizer Chiefs merchandise, KC Insurance services and KC Mobile starter packs. The store is one of nine stores around the country offering services to Amakhosi supporters around the country.
Supporters who attended this final summer activation won prizes, including tickets to Saturday night’s match, cellphones, Kaizer Chiefs jerseys, Shake Every Day hampers, airtime vouchers, flip-flops, beach towels, water tumblers and many other great prizes.
The Vodacom Gig Rig set-up had fans dancing and singing to the DJs tunes while others were locked in friendly competitions inside the Shakeville Arena, where they participated in interactive games such as the human snooker, Shake booth competition and witness the amazing Vodacom Shake mob.
“Together with our partners, Vodacom and Hollard, we have put together phenomenal promotional activations as a build-up to a number of our home games since the campaign was launched and our stores opened,” said Amakhosi’s Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung. “We did two summer activations with Vodacom in Durban at the beach front and now the last one in Alex. We are also happy that we promoted the KC Store that has been in operation at the Alex Mall since July 2017. Our supporters can now visit the stores at their convenience and take advantage of the services we offer and the merchandise we’ve made available for them.”
At the roadshow in Alex, 15 lucky supporters who connected with KC Mobile and recharged for R29 got a chance of winning a chance to be upgraded to VIP status at the game on Saturday. Together with their partners, they were transported from Alex to the FNB stadium. They were hosted in a VIP suite and received prizes including Kaizer Chiefs jerseys. At half-time, they received a surprise visit from Kaizer Chiefs players who took pictures with them and signed autographs.
The match between the Glamour Boys and the Brazilians was attended by 70 000 supporters. The teams shared the spoils as they both failed to get the ball in the back of the net on either end.
