Kaizer Chiefs officially ‘took over’ Phuthaditjhaba ahead of the mouth-watering Absa Premiership fixture against Free State Stars at Charles Mopeli Stadium on Saturday, 01 September 2012.

In conjuction with main sponsor Vodacom, Kaizer Chiefs organised a ‘Pre-Spring Activation’ with hundreds of fans turning out at Setsing Mall. With hosts, QwaQwa Supporters Club as adoring fans, students and workers in and around the mall coming out in numbers interacting with Kaizer Chiefs Management led by Marketing Director Jessica Motaung.

Corporate Communications Manager, Vina Maphosa showed the fans a thing or two on the dance floor.

“It is always a pleasure for us as the Club to come to QwaQwa where the Club enjoys a lot of support. The support demonstrated by the people of QwaQwa is something that can never be underestimated, we are confident that the fans will come in numbers to support the team at the game on Saturday,” said Vina who was enjoying the warm spring weather.

Retail Manager Emmanuel Khumalo was also delighted with the activation; “This is more than just an opportunity to process membership cards, but to service the branches. We brought our Mobile Kaizer Chiefs Retail Store and it was amazing to see how popular the home jersey is with the Amakhosi Faithful. The new grey goalkeeper jersey was also very popular with the supporters that turned out in numbers to purchase the authentic merchandise from the Club,”

The supporters were not only entertained with good music but also won giveaways courtesy of Vodacom and Kaizer Chiefs. There was also an opportunity in particular for photo opportunities with Jessica Motaung and other officials from the Club.

QwaQwa Branch Secretary, Edward Maleka (34) was pleased with the proceedings; “We are very excited to welcome Kaizer Chiefs here as you can see the fans are very excited buying shirts and signing memberships. This initiative also gives the supporters in the East of the Free State an opportunity to meet and greet the likes of Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung who is spearheading and pushing the Chiefs Brand.”

“The next step is to go and support the team at the stadium on Saturday. We are behind the Players and the Technical Team; the theme “Reclaiming the Glory” has filtered through the branches and we carry it with us to each and every game we attend,” added Maleka.
