Motaung who has scored eleven goals for Chiefs this season, made his debut for the club against Amazulu in December 2003. After entering the game, which Chiefs eventually won 4-0 as a second half substitute, the young striker (tipped as a future national team prospect) netted his first goal for the club on the final evening of The Amakhosi's title winning 2003 - 2004 season against Wits University at the FNB Stadium. Kaizer Junior got onto the score sheet early in a game that Chiefs, who had wrapped up the title a few days earlier against Moroka Swallows, were held to a 1-1 draw by Wits.
Kaizer Junior, who has been part of the Chiefs first team set up since late 2000, was not given any game time by former Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral and was then used sparingly by Ted Dumitru - but once given a chance to show off his goal scoring talents last season and this term - he has not looked back.
Motaung, with his ability to hold off defenders and finish off from close range and from long range, has been described by many as a proto type of the forward of the future.
When informed by www.kaizerchiefs.com that he stands on the edge of making 50 appearances for the club, a surprised Motaung Junior said: "I am not really aware of my appearances, to tell the truth I do not often keep tabs on them. It is good to be informed about such events - hopefully it will be memorable number fifty for me and the team against Swallows on Sunday."
Having taken his goal-scoring tally for the season into double figures, Kaizer Junior will be aiming to increase his tally for the season against Swallows on Sunday. In addition to adding his name to the score sheet, he will be looking to assisting his strike partner Shaun Bartlett in getting his goal tally to double figures. A win on Sunday will make Kaizer Juniors' day even sweeter as it should propel Chiefs into second place on the PSL standings.
