Steve Komphela’s assistant Doctor Khumalo will be in charge of Kaizer Chiefs’ Macufe Cup match against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Free State Stadium this Sunday afternoon (kick-off is at 15:00).
Most of the senior players have been left behind in Gauteng, but Amakhosi has still fielded a formidable side for the Celtic encounter.
Brilliant Khuzwayo will be between the poles, while Morgan Gould will captain the side. The 32-year-old defender has recovered from his Achilles tendon injury and is ready to impress coach Komphela.
Amakhosi’s two wingers Sula Matovu and Ovidy Karuru also get an opportunity to show their qualities.
George Maluleka, who showed fine form after coming on against Platinum Stars last season, will start again Celtic.
Philip Tinyani will be the referee.
Chiefs failed to win the Macufe Cup in the last three editions, but the team will surely try to make that right in this afternoon’s game.
Chiefs' line up: Khuzwayo (16); Moleko (18), Gould(c)(83), Xulu (5),Ritchie (23); Matovu (28), Baloyi (35), Maluleka (12), Karuru (11); Ekstein (27), Ndulula (19)
Subs: Sixhaso (34), Gordinho (26), Mtsila (39), Mthembu (20), Manqele (22)
Head Coach: Doctor Khumalo
