The array of African legends who met President Zuma included, 3 time African Footballer of the Year Abedi Pele, former World Footballer, European and African Footballer of the Year George Weah, former Super Eagles of Nigeria captain Stephen Keshi, the current Zambian Football President and legend Kulusha Balwya, Daniel Amokachi wanted to thank South Africa for putting together a successful World Cup tournament.
“It was such an honour to lead the guys to meet the president of the country, Mr. Jacob Zuma. The guys wanted to express their gratitude to the country for staging an event that has up to so far been a glaring success,” said the clearly excited Khumalo speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Thursday afternoon.
“The President was very happy to see the guys who some of them worked very hard behind the scenes in promoting the bid to host the World Cup. Plans are already underway to organise a game between African legends against the Bafana Bafana Class of 96 after the World Cup,” added Khumalo.
Khumalo further urged the African community to get behind Ghana tomorrow as they take on Uruguay in the quarter final of the World Cup. If Ghana beat Uruguay they will become the first African country to reach the semi finals of the World Cup a dream Doctor Khumalo think is possible.
“Yes, I believe Ghana can go out and beat Uruguay on Friday, in fact I share this belief with some of the legends I was with on Thursday afternoon,” he said confidently.
