Arthur Bartman believes that his Club teammate, Itumeleng Khune will be a key figure for Bafana Bafana ahead of the Fifa 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia, Sunday 3 June and Botswana on June 9, 2012.
The Kaizer Chiefs skipper has been out of the national team since getting injured in the game against Sierra Leone back in October 2011.
“Khune has always done well for both Club and country. It is good to see him back in the team. There is no doubt that his return is going to boost the side ahead of some tough games in June.
“He needs to play his normal game and I wish him and the team all the best during the qualifiers. We have a good team with the experience of the likes of Tshabalala and some of the guys and we should pull through.
Bartman who is no. 2 to Khune did well this season whenever he was called to do the duty for the team, “you need to be ready all the time and I was happy with my contribution in the team this season. We all know that we should have done better for sure.
“I must say though the standard of the league has improved a lot in the past couple of years. I say this having been in the league for the past 14 seasons. The league is competitive with about six teams now capable of winning the championship.
“I also think the league has also produced a very good group of young players that are going to make impact in the next couple of years. It was also good to see my former teammate here at Kaizer Chiefs, Siyabonga Nomvethe doing well so are the likes of Rhee Zuma and Benni McCarthy.
“It shows that when you are a player it is important to look after yourself off the field. It actually helps prolong your career and this is what some of these guys have done very well.
Bartman revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that he will be meeting the Management to discuss the way forward as far as his future is concerned, “I have had great time here at Chiefs since re-joining in 2009. I have not made up my mind on what is going to happen with me next season. I hope to sit with the Management and take it from there.
Bartman though will also spend some time on the sidelines after pulling his hamstring on Monday; “We were doing tests and I got injured. I have been told that I will be out for the next four weeks.
