The Amakhosi net minder was in sterling form for South Africa during their goalless draw against Sierra Leone, he has quickly turned his attentions to ensuring that Chiefs are ready for their assignment against Platinum Stars.
“It is very important for me to switch my focus from national team commitments to my responsibilities for Chiefs and I am ready and looking forward to this coming weekend’s game against Platinum Stars, they are a young team with players who will be fired up for the game” explained Khune.
According to the Chiefs number all of the accolades and mention he got for his performance in Freetown are out of his mind as he prepares to do duty for his club once more.
“I have had three days to work with Rainer and the other keepers and we have put in a lot of effort of this game and again my target and the teams will be to keep a clean sheet, right now I am thinking about wearing the Chiefs jersey again and collecting three points.”
Khune has been beaten just once this season and is looking towards putting in another stellar performance in goal, “the goal that I conceded against Maritzburg United in our second game was a soft goal to let in and I feel I could have managed not to have conceded the goal.
Overall I believe that we have as a defensive unit work well and for the team’s overall success it is important for us to continue being strong at the back.”
Khune believes another strong defensive performance will be required from Chiefs for their clash with Stars, “Platinum Stars always up their game against us and I think they enjoy playing Chiefs. Like I mentioned earlier they have a young team but also players who know us, it is going to be an exciting game and I am expecting them to come hard at us from the start.”
