An emotional, Itumeleng Khune handed his Goalkeeper of the Year Award to goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker describing him as a "pillar of strength".

Khune who won almost every award on offer during PSL awards at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, on Sunday evening (26 May 2013) thanked the German for contributing to his development.

Currently SA's no. 1 goalkeeper, Khune is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the continent.

"I won this award back in 2007/2008 season and it is an honour to win it again. I have decided to present it to Coach Rainer who has been there for me since I was 15.

"Thank you very much for your support," said Khune who was in tears as he handed the award to his goalkeeper coach.

The Kaizer Chiefs skipper revealed that Dinkelacker wanted to retire almost five years back; "I never thought I will talk about this but he wanted to retire five years ago and when I signed a new contract he said he will sign one more year.

"He has sacrificed a lot for me and I cannot thank him enough. It is hard to imagine if I would have achieved this without his support," continued Khune.

Khune who was the biggest winner on the night also paid tribute to the Club Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung, his teammates, The League and most importantly his parents who were in attendance.

"I thank my family; my parents who are my biggest fans. Kaizer Chiefs is my second home and I thank our Chairman...it is an honour to lead his team as a captain.

"My teammates at Naturena, my fellow colleagues, the league and the sponsors including the supporters - thank you.

"It is special to win the Players Player of the Year...to be voted by fellow professionals is something very special. I also thank all those who voted for me on other awards. God is great," added Khune.
