Former, Bafana Bafana Coach, Clive Barker and 1996 Afcon winner believes that Itumeleng Khune is one of the best goalkeepers South Africa has ever seen.
The Africa Cup of Nations winning coach was speaking on SABC 2’ Morning Live on Wednesday morning; ‘The Dog’ cited Itu as key for the nation in this tournament and one of the best goalkeepers this country has ever seen. In his response when the question was posed on who will be Bafana Bafana starting eleven; “Itu will most probably play every single minute of the Bafana Bafana games if he stays fit during the tournament.”
Barker went on again as he did back in 2009 during Fifa Confederations Cup to compare the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper kicking abilities to that of Manchester United’ legend, Eric Cantona; “He is the best kicker of the ball after Eric Cantona,” added Barker.
Itumeleng Khune and his Bafana Bafana teammates are gearing up for the sold out opening game of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations against Cape Verde at the National Stadium on Saturday, 19 January 2013.
Kickoff is at 18h00.
