Khune part of Amakhosi trio to Germany

Itumeleng Khune had his summer holidays cut short with the news that he will be part of the South African under-20 squad that will take part in a twelve-team indoor tournament in Germany.

The tournament, which will see Amajita take on various youth teams of German Bundesliga Clubs as well as some foreign teams, will be played in the German town of Sindelfengen.



Khune has become quite the jet setter in recent times having travelled recently to the Ivory Coast and Indonesia with the national under twenty- three team. Upon his return from Indonesia and flew immediately to Durban to join up with the under twenty national team that finished fourth in the recent COSAFA U-20 tournament.



With Germany in the grip of winter, Bundesliga teams use the period to travel away to sunnier climates for camps in order to keep their players fit during the winter recess period. So this tournament will be played in doors on an artificial surface although the players will be able to wear the same boots they use on when playing on a natural playing surface.



Khune will not be flying the Chiefs flag alone in Germany he will have Kaizer Chiefs u-19 players Lawrence Molekwane and Bandile Kiviet as company in Germany.

Sindelfengen is also the hometown of part time Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper trainer Rainer Dinkelacker who has confirmed that he will be in attendance to lend support to the Amakhosi trio as well as the travelling South African team.



The tournament will begin on the 1st of January and will end on the 6th of January; the team is expected to jet out of South Africa on the 28th of December for Germany.
