“Khune's knee is recovering well,” says Kaizer Chiefs physiotherapist David Milner about Itumeleng Khune, who underwent knee surgery a fortnight ago. “The swelling is coming down and he has started the rehabilitation process.”
“Shabba’s ankle is looking better,” adds Milner about captain Siphiwe Tshabalala, who slightly hurt his ankle in a recent practice match, which led to the midfielder missing the Maritzburg United clash. “He will be back in training on Monday.”
“Ivan Bukenya has a hamstring strain and will be back in training on Monday,” continues Milner. The midfielder sustained the injury while on duty with the Ugandan national side during the Fifa week.
Erick Mathoho is also struggling with a niggling injury.
On the positive side, striker David Zulu is now joining the team with certain training sessions after having been out for a while due to injury.
The PSL is presently in a brief recess, because of South Africa’s Under-23 team being involved in an 8-Nations Tournament in Senegal.
Amakhosi’s return to action will be the already sold out Telkom Knockout final against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, December 16, at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The 2015 curtain will come down with the Cape of Love & Peace encounter against current league table leaders Bidvest Wits at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, December 19 (kick-off is at 18:00).
The Cape of Love & Peace will continue in 2016 with clashes against Platinum Stars on Sunday, 24 January (kick-off at 15:30) and SuperSport United on Saturday, 20 February (kick-off at 20:15).
Tickets for all the three matches are already on sale at all Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide.
