Itumeleng Khune will join an elite group of players from Kaizer Chiefs to captain Bafana Bafana after Gordon Igesund opted for the no. 1 goalkeeper to lead the squad against Central African Republic on March 23 in a World Cup qualifier.



Khune, captain at Kaizer Chiefs captained Bafana Bafana back in December against Malawi in a friendly international and was one of the outstanding players during the recent Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.



“Itumeleng Khune will captain for this match,” confirmed Gordon Igesund.



‘Spider’ as Khune is affectionately known has joined the likes of Neil Tovey, Doctor Khumalo, Brian Baloyi, and Siphiwe Tshabalala who have all captained Bafana Bafana while playing for Kaizer Chiefs.



Meanwhile, defender Morgan Gould has been called up to the national team to play against Central African Republic after being absent in the national team for seven months due to injury. He is joined in the national team by club mates, Tsepo Masilela, Bernard Parker, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and captain, Itumeleng Khune.
