Itumeleng Khune sustained a fractured bone in his face during the dying minutes of Sunday’s clash against Chippa United.
The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, however, knows what is at stake for Bafana Bafana – it’s do or die for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Senegal. South Africa needs to win both games to qualify for the World Cup in Russia.
And that’s why Khune went through the paces today with the rest of the Bafana Bafana squad.
This doesn’t mean though that the 30-year-old will necessarily be in goal for the first qualifier against Senegal at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday, 10 November 2017. He first has to pass a fitness test.
The second qualifying match will take place on Tuesday night, 14 November, in Dakar, Senegal.
