Goalkeeper Nhlanhla Brilliant Khuzwayo has vowed that he and his teammates are eagerly awaiting the start of the new season to rediscover the winning culture that their Team has established in 44 years of existence. “I can’t wait to get back into action, I will be back to work soon to prepare myself before the Team starts with the preseason preparations. There’s a lot at stake waiting for us in the new season.” said Khuzwayo.

Khuzwayo took time in his offseason to collaborate with Ilembe Municipality to conduct goalkeeping clinics for the aspiring goalkeepers. The event took place in Stanger, KwaZulu Natal on Sunday, 8th June 2014. The hopefuls came from various townships including Maphumulo, Ndwedwe, Mandeni and the local lads from Stanger area.

Ploughing back:

“I did this because of a dream to plough back. I have been in this stage before, where I wished to be a professional goalkeeper. Learning the basics at an early age is key to success for a goalkeeper. I have been trained by the best and played alongside the best at Chiefs and I want to share my knowledge with the youngsters. I was privileged to be trained by the acclaimed goalkeeper coach, German-born Rainer Dinkelacker and I am playing alongside South Africa’s No 1 goalie Itumeleng Khune and Reyaad Pieterse. I am glad that the guys came in their numbers and appreciated my input.” said the 24 year old Khuzwayo.

Khuzwayo hails from Umlazi in KwaZulu Natal and has been capped 29 times at the U23 level and has 1 Bafana Bafana Cap to his name. Khuzwayo told kaizerchiefs.com that he has been inspired by Brian Baloyi and Itumeleng Khune to follow a career as a goalkeeper.

The offseason:

“I have been at home, hanging around with family and friends.” said Khuzwayo.

The 2014 Fifa World Cup starting in three days in Brazil:

“Spain should walk away with this one. They are a solid team in my book. They are consistent and they play well as a unit. With my favourite goalkeeper Iker Casillas in goals, Spain will win this World Cup.” commented Khuzwayo.

Khuzwayo has appeared 4 times for Chiefs in 2013/14 season.
