Amakhosi midfielder George Lebese has told kaizerchiefs.com that he is delighted at having finally made a full recovery from a lengthy injury lay off as a result of torn ligaments in his knee that had prevented him from seeing any game time in the last couple of months.

The twenty two year old featured as a second half substitute for Chiefs during their 0-0 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday and said of getting a taste of first team action once again, “it is really encouraging for me to have been back with the team and playing again. It is a big boost for my confidence to be playing again.”

Lebese hardly looked like a player who had missed months of action when he came on a substitute against Celtic, as he explains his rehab process ensured that he was fully prepared for the toughness of the Absa Premiership.

“I was fortunate because the recovery process went well, I played in a couple of friendly games and I used those also to prepare me for my return. When you out for so long and an opportunity comes your way, you try to do your best. Given that I was out for so long I am satisfied with my performance and I will look to continue in the following games from where I left off.”

A further motivating factor for the young midfielder is the fact that he was thrown on against Celtic during a crucial time in the game, after coming on he even managed to help carve out a goal scoring opportunity for the Amakhosi.

“It meant a lot to me that the coach was willing to throw me into a game even though I was lacking game time, when the technical team is confident in your abilities to deliver for the team it can lifts ones spirits.”

On Monday during training Lebese was felled by a heavy tackle and although he rolled on the floor in pain for a short while, he did manage to get back up and complete the session. With his injury out of the way as he explained the road ahead looks like a bright one for him.

“When I went down in training I thought oh no, but it was nothing serious and I went on without any pain, I just want to continue working hard as I did when I was trying to get back to full fitness and hopefully things continue to progress well for me and the team.”
