Komphela took the team through the pre-match session on Friday morning ahead of the match. Kick-off at Harry Gwala Stadium is at 20:15.
“Watching United play under Roger de Sa, one can already see their danger, especially with their tall forwards,” comments Komphela. “Our preparations have gone according to plan. The players are looking good and hungry to maintain the winning momentum.”
Chiefs are currently enjoying a rich vein of form, with four unbeaten matches in a row and occupying a healthy fourth position on the log. A draw and three wins should auger well against a hard to crack Maritzburg Unted, who themselves are in a fine seventh position on the league table.
“Our aim is to keep pace with the leading pack in the log,” adds Komphela. “It is getting tight at this stage of the league marathon and it will be important to go for maximum points from the remaining matches.”
Komphela also confirms the return of Tsepo Masilela in the squad: “Tsepo has recovered from the groin injury and travelled with the team to Maritzburg.”
The Chiefs coach and his assistant John Paintsil will be relishing a win at Harry Gwala Stadium, which is a familiar territory. Komphela and Paintsil were respectively coach and a player at Maritzburg United.
