George made his first start for Amakhosi in an away game against Soweto rivals, Moroka Swallows in October. Although Chiefs came second best on the day, the Mamelodi born player did enough to win the hearts of Amakhosi faithful with his deft touches and nifty runs.
The former Arcadia Sheppards player thanked the Technical Team for giving him opportunity to display his God given talent but warned that, ‘there is lot of work ahead’.
“I want to thank everyone who voted for me because I was competing with some of the best rookies this month. I see the award as a motivation for me to work harder in improving my game. I want to thank the Technical Team for showing confidence in me.
I have a lot of work ahead to win the starting berth in the team. I am grateful of the encouragement I am getting from the team and I know that if I work harder I will feature in more games for the team.”
George is now in line to win the Jet Rookie of the Year Award 2008/2009 Season. His teammate, Itumeleng Khune was a winner of the lucrative award last season.
