Kaizer Chiefs team manager Bobby Motaung has dismissed as unfounded reports that former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabang Lebese had signed a two-year contract with the Glamour Boys.

Lebese - who was declared a free agent last Friday after securing a clearance from Pirates - was reportedly quoted in the media as saying that he had signed for Amakhosi.

"Thabang came to us with a clearance and told us he was interested in playing for us," said Motaung. "But the reality is that we have not finalised anything and we were very surprised to read in papers that he had signed for us."

Motaung said it was premature to start talking about signing players at this stage. "The issue of signing players has not even been discussed with the technical team and until then we cannot sign or offload any players," he said.

Speculation that Lebese - who played for Ria Stars before joining Pirates - was already training with the team was also dismissed by the no-no-nonsense Amakhosi team manager.
