Lebese vows to keep working hard

George Lebese has vowed to continue working hard and played down that he is the Man of form.

After joining the Glamour Boys at the start of 2008/2009 season from Arcadia Shepards this season George has shown glimpses of his full potential.

Nicknamed ‘What’s up’ by kaizerchiefs.com, Lebese started the preseason by storm - scoring a winner against Tottenham Hotspur during the Vodacom Challenge at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

His preseason form though was derailed as he got injured against Orlando Pirates spending six weeks on the sidelines.

“It is difficult when you start a season with an injury but I did not drop my head I worked on returning to full fitness.

Against Golden Arrows last month the 22 year old came as a substitute with the Glamour Boys trailing by 2-0 but changed the whole completion of the game pulling one goal back for the team. He could have grabbed his brace and secured an equalizer in the 90th minute but watched his penalty going agonisingly wide.

What has he done differently to his game? Kaizerchiefs.com asked.

“I am still the same player but have been pushing extra hard. I also think that getting game time has given me more confidence. The Technical Team and my teammates have also been very encouraging. Even after missing a penalty at Peter Mokaba, everyone was very supportive.

Vladimir Vermezovic gave George Lebese the captain’s armband against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Macufe Cup last weekend, “I was not expecting it as there were more senior teammates. However, I took it as a sign of confidence the Coach has in me. It was really something special for a young player like me to lead the team.

Chiefs square up against Black Leopards at Peter Mokaba Stadium; “That is my favourite Stadium. The atmosphere is always tremendous and I also seem to score when I play there. I am working very hard to make the team for this weekend,” added ‘What’s up’ with a smile.
