‘They will come to us with revenge in mind,” warns Siboniso Gaxa ahead of Kaizer Chiefs’ home game in the Absa Premiership against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Tuesday evening. “League matches are different from cup games. It is going to be tough, but we will prepare accordingly.”
This much anticipated sequel to Saturday’s Telkom Knockout quarterfinal will be played at home on Tuesday evening, at the FNB Stadium (kick-off is at 19:30).
“We will apply the same mentality,” Gaxa adds, while referring to the Telkom Knockout win. “We must just do better in converting our chances.”
The league match was postponed a fortnight ago. Fans will be allowed to use the tickets they bought for the original game on 17 October.
“It is going to be tough to play the same opponent in a space of three days,” Gaxa continues. “We are playing at home and that’s where we want to stamp our authority.”
Chiefs’ right-back has been threatening to score in recent matches, coming close to rattle the net on numerous occasions. “I am working just as hard on scoring as on defending,” comments Gaxa.
It was another good crowd away from home for Amakhosi. “We are working on composure in front of goals,” Gaxa says. Then, he pauses for a moment, before adding: “On behalf of my teammates I would like to thank the supporters for coming in numbers to our matches.”
The tickets for this league fixture are selling for R40 at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide.
“We will appreciate more support at our home, the FNB Stadium,” concludes Gaxa. “We know our supporters will attend this one against Black Aces in numbers. The stakes are high, we have to ascend the league table and reclaim the top position.”
