Kaizer Chiefs defender Patrick Mabedi will be away on national duty this weekend after he was called up to the Malawian national team for their World Cup qualifier against Morocco in Blantyre.

Mabedi, still celebrating his championship medal with Amakhosi, will not miss any action, as the next and final league match will be on June 9 against Wits. Bostick, as his colleagues affectionately call him, has featured in every Chiefs match this season and is also a contender for the Castle Premiership Player of the Year.

Collins Mbesuma, who scored the opening goal against Moroka Swallows in the 2-0 league title winning victory over the weekend, has been roped into the Zambian squad for the World Cup qualifier against Togo this weekend.

Meanwhile, Malawi have recalled the 38-year-old midfielder Ernest Mtawali to their squad for this World Cup qualifier.

Mtawali, who plays for Ajax Cape Town in South Africa, made his debut for Malawi almost 21 years ago at the age of 17 in a Nations Cup qualifier against Madagascar in August, 1983.

Officials said the midfielder had been called up after public demand for his inclusion. He is one of six foreign-based players in the 20-man squad for the group five match.

Malawi will be coached by a trio of officials - John Kaputa, Kinnah Phiri and Dave Mpesi - for the game.
