Mabedi returns, Mooki out

Malawian defender Patrick Mabedi will return to Premier League action on Saturday when Kaizer Chiefs visit bottom-placed Black Leopards in Thohoyandou.

Mabedi has been out of action for a couple weeks due to a structured fubula. The hardworking defender had just returned from a four-month lay off to play for his country Malawi in the Cosafa Cup in August but injury struck again.

The medical staff declared Mabedi fit to face Leopards and this will be good news for the technical staff as defender David Kannemeyer will not be available due to injury. Kannemeyer should, however, be ready in time for the Coca-Cola Cup final against Jomo Cosmos on November 30.

More disturbing news for Doctor Khumalo and Ace Khuse is that veteran midfielder Thabo Mooki will miss the Leopards chase due to an ankle injury sustained in the league match against Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday.

Defender Nhlanhla Kubeka and striker Kenny Niemach will be in the treatment room until January.
